In response to post conference surveys, we have once again scheduled the VATD Conference and the Fall Regional DDOT Meeting consecutively. This year, Shelley Loving-Ryder will give the VDOE update for DDOTs in advance of the VATD Conference.

Fall 2010 Eastern Regional Assessment Workshop for Division Directors of Testing (No Registration Fee)

2010 VATD Conference
o Conference Registration Opens - Wednesday, October 27 at 4:00p.m.
o Conference Sessions - Thursday, October 28 -Friday, October 29.

Both the Eastern Regional Assessment Workshop for DDOTs and the VATD Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn Koger Center, Richmond, Virginia.

Speakers at the VATD Conference will include Bena Kallick, well-known consultant and author in the areas of group dynamics, creative and critical thinking, and alternative assessment strategies for the classroom and Dr. Billy Cannaday, Jr. recently appointed to the State Board of Education.

Bena Kallick is known nationally and internationally for her practical approach to making curriculum mapping and assessment a catalyst for improving teaching and learning. She is well-known for her work with Art Costa on Habits of Mind, her most recent work is Using Curriculum Mapping and Assessment to Improve Student Learning (Corwin Press, 2009, co-authored with Jeff Colosimo).

Dr. Cannaday will bring the state board's perspective on student testing issues to the conference.

We are currently requesting break-out sessions that will highlight best practices in all areas of assessment. If you would like to submit a proposal to present a session, please click on the link in the red box to the left. As we have stated over the years, our breakout sessions are what make our conference so meaningful, so please consider sharing your "best practices" with others! We are asking that session proposals be submitted by June 30th.

Online registration for the VATD Conference will be announced soon.
