Thursday will feature remarks on assessment matters by State Superintendent Dr. Pat Wright followed by the local superintendent's perspective given by Dr. Marcus Newsome of Chesterfield County Public Schools. This will be followed by a panel presentation in which national experts on computer adaptive testing will discuss a variety of issues related to this type of assessment.

Other presentations will also cover the challenges in using student achievement (test scores) in teacher evaluations, university research on student achievement, updates on the Mathematics, Reading/Writing and Science Assessments, developing partnerships with community coalitions, and vendor/school district partner presentations on using assessment-related products. We will also have updates on accreditation and accountability for 2013. Other invited speakers will bring you up to date on the national perspective on student assessment, and federal legislation related to school funding.

Of course, as always, one of the biggest benefits to attending the conference is networking with colleagues that you do not get a chance to see during the rest of the year!

Please also consider sharing your knowledge and experience with others in breakout sessions designed to highlight your best practices related to testing and the "new times" in which we live!

We look forward to seeing you next month!

President
